Manufacturing the finest flat steel springs in the industry to meet our customers’ needs is our choice at Vulcan Spring, allowing us to work in a constant, challenging environment. So four years ago when I was given the opportunity to be the executive producer in a film production, I looked at it as a different type of challenge and a chance to try something totally different.
My wife, the curly-haired photographer, and I decided to make a movie. We were looking for a movie that would be family-friendly and one that grandparents, parents and the grandkids could go to see together. We wanted it to have some ongoing appeal so people would want to see it over and over again.
Our movie, “Angels Sing” is based on a book by Turk Pipkin, “When Angels Sing”. It is a Christmas movie about a family and some of the issues that they have to overcome to find the Christmas spirit again in their life. This is a major film starring some of today’s most loved actors, including Harry Connick Jr., Willie Nelson, Connie Britton, Chandler Canterbury, Lyle Lovett, Fionnula Flanagan and Kris Kristofferson. You will laugh, cry, and have a good feeling at the end of this film.
I admit this is not my expertise. Basically my wife did most of the work, but I did like the end result and ultimately the production process. If someone had told me what was involved before we started filming, I might have missed out on this amazing opportunity. I’m happy that no one did.
Our movie will be coming to theatres on November 1, 2013, with a limited release and then on Video on demand on November 15th. DVD sales will begin December 10th but pre-sales on Amazon are available now. Each time the movie was shown the audience has loved it.
