Vulcan Announces Eco-Pullbox – World’s First Biodegradable Product Tether

Responsible businesses and companies are embracing new environmental regulations. Vulcan Spring & Mfg. Co., inventor of the industry-leading Pullbox® product security tether, has developed a biodegradable and compostable version of its flagship product.

“As companies strive to achieve new environmental standards and also establish their ecological credentials with increasingly savvy customers, our new Eco-Pullbox helps support their efforts,” explained Bob Gustafson, Vulcan’s Vice President of Sales.

The Vulcan Eco-Pullbox employs a proprietary material that is biodegradable and compostable. The material is used to house the tether wire and eliminates an entire source of plastic content into the waste stream. It has similar characteristics to the original housing material but offers an ecologically friendly alternative that enhances responsible environmental compliance.

“Vulcan invented the security tether category and followed it up with other innovations including alarmed-tethers and the miniVS, and today we are proud to again break new ground in our industry,” explained Gustafson. “When it comes to the environment every little bit helps and we plan to partner with our customers so they can meet whatever green goals they set for themselves and their businesses.”

The PULLBOX® Flips its Lid.
Vulcan Spring continues to add customization options to the versatile PULLBOX®. A new cable exit location for the PULLBOX will be located on the top of the box allowing designers and engineers to locate the PULLBOX directly below any product on display. The dimensions of the PULLBOX remain the same at 2-3/4” long X 1-3/4” wide X 7/8” high. A wide range of end fittings, cable thicknesses and length and pull forces are available to meet the precise demands of any product tether or security retractor display application.

Introducing the New MiniVS Positioning Teather
Vulcan Spring, inventor of the revolutionary, retractable Pullbox® product tether, has continued to innovate so POP display designers have more options.

The MiniVS is designed to provide positioning advantages that require only a minimal level of security. The MiniVS is slightly larger than a quarter yet it contains up to 36” of nylon-covered steel cable. As a value-priced positioning tether, the MiniVS opens new markets for lower priced products, customer instruction sheets, and cosmetic samples.

At the other end of the spectrum, the Pullbox® Alarm is ideal for product positioning and as a theft deterrent for high-end product samples including Cellphones, PDAs, Cameras, and Video Cameras. The Pullbox Alarm is a battery-operated alarm which snaps onto the traditional Pullbox. There are no attachment wires and the Pullbox Alarm does not require a separate power source.

Vulcan Spring also continues to add customization options to the versatile Pullbox. A new cable exit location for the Pullbox, located on the top of the box, lets designers and engineers locate the Pullbox directly below any product on display.

The Thin Disk
Vulcan Spring has introduced a new and versatile end fitting for its best-selling Pullbox security tether/retractor. Similar to the company's popular Mouse end fitting, the Thin Disk is designed for field installation. It can be easily attached to a cable after the cable has been passed through a small hole in the display allowing the Pullbox retractor to remain out of view. The Thin Disk end fitting is flat on both the front and rear sides and the new design allows a cable to be snapped into the fitting without any extra parts. The end fitting provides multiple mounting choices including a screw hole for mounting and two slots for adding a tie wrap as well as double-sided tape that will attach it to the product on display. The Thin Disk also comes with complete installation instructions. The Thin Disk dimensions are: 1.196" diameter by 0.22" thick.
