Katie Crawford

Katie CrawfordTitle: Point-of-Purchase Applications Engineer

Home town: Quakertown, Pennsylvania

Educational credentials: BS, International Business, Marketing Concentration, French Minor - Elizabethtown College

When hired at Vulcan: January 2012

Why I chose Vulcan:  I chose Vulcan because it has a great team atmosphere and I can proudly say that our products are designed and manufactured using 100% US-made material right here in our Telford, PA facility.

Outside interests / hobbies:  Reading, running and traveling

Philanthropic endeavors, if any: We rescued our Catahoula Leopard Dog, Ziggy in 2007 and it was one of the best decisions we ever made. I support no-kill animal shelters and try to convince everyone I know to adopt a pet rather than going through a breeder or pet store.  It’s so worth it!  I also run in 5k’s for local charities.

A person who (or an event that) inspired you:  My grandmother inspires me.  She had a long list of health problems and defied the odds for 33 years after doctors gave her a 10% chance to live.

In your opinion, what is the greatest engineering achievement of all time?  I have to say the movable type printing press.  Without a way to educate the masses, we wouldn’t be where we are today.

In your opinion, what is the most over-looked (or under-credited) engineering achievement of all time? Duct tape.  It works on just about everything.

What car you’d drive, if money (or street laws) were no object.  Aston Martin DBS
